One of the things I do (when I have the time) is knit. It seems
that my knitting is famous in some circles. Liza put a pair of my knitted
socks up for auction on a mailing list she is involved with and they fetched
over $70, sight unseen! I used an entrelac pattern (from "Socks!", a Spin-Off publication from Interweave Press © 1994) for the leg and the rest is pretty
much made-up-as-I-went-along. Here they are:
I liked these socks so much that I decided to knit some for myself! I skipped the entrelac and just made different stripes of various small patterns as I went along. It took forever to finish them, but I finally did it. Here they are:
In our house I do the laundry. I never seem to have time to sort the socks after they dry so we have a huge box full of socks-to-be-sorted. Most of the family members just go to the box and grab any 2 socks that are the right size and put them on. This causes great laughter and silliness and we enjoy it immensely. Here are some "mismatched" socks I knitted for myself:
Here's a photo of some socks I knitted for Liza. They are steel-grey, blue and green with a checkerboard pattern on the leg.
Here's some photos of some of my Kaffe Fassett projects. First is my jacket. It is "Jack's Back Stripe", knitted from cuff to cuff with about 100 different yarns in autumn colors.
Next is Liza's jacket, "Stone Patch". For this one I used about 40 different yarns in ocean colors (blues and greens). Even though this is done in Intarsia instead of Fair Isle (like my jacket), Liza claims it keeps her toasty warm in the Winter.
This one is Rebecca, wearing a "Whorling Star" crewneck pullover which I knitted for Samantha in 40 or so colors of cotton yarn. Unfortunately, it is too small for Sam or Rebecca now, so Maxx will be wearing it this Spring.
...to be continued...
